School Shop now open

Our School Shop was officially opened by the Headmaster on Wednesday 14th April 2021.

Accompanied by the School Captains and the Chairman of QP School Enterprises Ltd, Russell Price, Dr Maloney was pleased to be able to mark the opening of the shop in its new location on High Street West.

Located close to the heart of the School, the Shop has been reimagined to create a contemporary space that showcases the QP uniform and sportswear, alongside stationery, school essentials and memorabilia. In addition, the new School Shop stocks the uniform for QP Community College, Leighfield Primary School, and St Mary and St John Primary School.

As well as being a convenient option for pupils to pick up anything they may need throughout the term, the School Shop has been designed to also offer new pupils and their parents a spacious, purpose-built fitting room area for uniform fittings.

The Shop’s hours of opening are Monday to Friday 10.00 – 17.00 and Saturday 10.45 – 14.45.

Outstanding GCSE and IGCSE Results

Congratulations to QP’s Upper Fifth pupils who have excelled, achieving an outstanding set of GCSE and IGCSE results.

Seventy pupils achieved at least eight 9-7 (equivalent A*A) grades, while one-fifth of the year gained straight 9-7 (A*A) grades.

Amongst the results are some outstanding individual successes, including: eleven 9-8 (A*) grades for Ellie Buttery, Imogen de Csillery, Rosie Gordon, Daniel Livermore and Lucy Sexton; at least ten 9-8 (A*) for Oluwatise Ajayi and Clemmie Manning; plus at least nine 9-8 (A*) for Michael Chen, Olivia Clarke, David Hammond, Harriet Lawson, Sam Martin, Perrin Tong and Michael Wong.  Our congratulations to them all.

Departmentally there are particularly strong results in the sciences with 95% of Biology and Chemistry results being graded 9-7 (A*A); in Geography and Religious Studies the 9-7 results were 92% and 87% respectively and within the creative and technical subjects both Music and Computer Science secured 80% 9-7 grades.

Most GCSE and IGCSE examinations now receive the new 9-1 grades. The new grading system has made it harder for pupils across the country to gain the top grades, so it is particularly pleasing to see many QP pupils doing so very well under the new system.

Dr Richard Maloney, Headmaster of QP School, said: “I am full of praise for our Upper Fifth pupils who have done brilliantly in their GCSE exams this year. Their successes, and the sterling efforts made by their teachers to draw the best from each student, are to be commended. Pupils at QP benefit from an all-round education and it is especially pleasing to know that they participate and enjoy success in activities beyond the academic curriculum, getting involved in sports, music, theatre and much more besides. We are looking forward to welcoming back our talented pupils as they move into the Sixth Form in the new school year.”

Demo High Introduces qp News

Avatar

Demo High is proud to announce the adoption of the quickParent portal. The portal will apprise parents or guardians of learners of any school news or announcements as well as subject and task marks for each term for each year (for as long as the learner has been at the school and or the school has been using the official SA-SAMS endorsed and provided by the South African Education Department).  These academic records include statistics for a deeper understanding of a learners’ performance and possible areas of improvement. This is the only system on the market that links directly to the SA-SAMS system and therefore follows the curriculum system (CAPS) as laid out by the Department of Education (DoE). Included currently are absentee records as well as behavior records so that parents or guardians are instantly aware of their child’s behavioral records. School news can be disseminated by grade(s) or class(es). We are also looking forward to future features and enhancements

2021 – Back to School

Its back to school time for all our students.

We faced a very difficult 2020 but we are really hoping that 2021 brings about renewed hope and promise

Coming back to school in 2021 will not be without its challenges though. We will be implementing some new safety protocols to help protect all our learners.

New classroom and time table arrangements will help us ensure that social distancing is observed at all times. Break times will be carefully observed ensuring that students wear masks at all times even outside of lesson environments. Be on the lookout for our forthcoming newsletter outlining all the latest safety protocols to be instated in the coming year.

Here’s to a successful 2021 for all our brave learners facing the challenges of education in the covid-19 pandemic
